Loas Leadership Team

Life on a Star Conferences have been held each year since 1963, shaped by the care and creativity of our community. For each conference, two Chairs are selected to guide the week’s vision and programming. Together, they choose the theme speaker, minister of the week, and workshop leaders, and they invite a Youth Coordinator to join the team. Working closely with the Youth Coordinator, the Chairs help recruit Youth Leaders and thoughtfully design a meaningful, engaging program for all ages throughout the week.

Life on a Star Conferences are stewarded by a caring community of current and former Chairs from both conferences. This group gathers on Star Island during the conference weeks to identify and invite future Chairs, and comes together again each fall to reflect, plan ahead, and tend to the ongoing work of the conferences, including electing Registrars, Treasurer, and Assistant Treasurer.

To ensure continuity and support throughout the year, they also appoint a Coordinating Committee of three members who, together with the Registrars and Treasurer, help respond to needs and opportunities that arise between Chair meetings.
