Lee Reid Scholarship Fund

Since 1993, the LOAS conferences have provided partial scholarships to families needing financial assistance for their hotel bill. In October 1997, the program was named the Lee Reid Scholarship Fund in honor of Rev. Lee Reid, a LOAS conferee who passed away that year.

We are not able to give full scholarships.  To be considered for a grant, you must be registered for a LOAS conference.  The amount of a grant depends on your needs, the number of families applying for aid and our available funds.   There is a lifetime limit of three grants to any family.

The STAR ISLAND CORPORATION also offers options to help pay for your conference. SIC's own Scholarship Fund and "10/10 Bring A Friend" explained below.

If paying at the full rate would preclude you and your family from attending a conference, please inform your conference registrar. Many conferences have established scholarship programs to help in cases of hardship. For more information on these programs including deadlines and instructions for applying, see conference websites. If you are able, donations to conference scholarship funds are greatly appreciated.

Star Island Corporation also has a financial aid program and has set aside a total of $20,000 to support this effort. The confidential program is available to individuals and families that are registered for a conference and have not received a conference scholarship. Please note awards are always partial, and depend on the number of applications received. You may not receive a scholarship from both an individual conference and Star Island Corporation.
